About our Wedding Fairs

A Fair Affair wedding fairs are a platform for Darwin’s most creative wedding designers and suppliers, those that genuinely want to connect with couples looking for a more personal and unique wedding experience.

Our vendors:

  • appeal to couples wanting a custom and stylish wedding that is tailored to their lifestyle and personality
  • love to collaborate with other designers and suppliers (there really is enough weddings for all of us!)
  • offer a boutique product or service have amazing talents and skills in their chosen fields
  • are committed to the Territory and all that it has to offer

Every year we come up with a ‘theme’ that all our vendors are encouraged to follow in their stall presence.

2 years ago, when we first started, we had ‘A Rural Affair’, this fair was held at the Fred’s Pass Show and we were appealing to all those couples searching for a little rural, rustic and vintage inspiration.

Our 2nd fair was called ‘An Urban Affair’ and this was at the sublime Six Tanks Brewery in the city.  This fair was for all the lovers of modern, industrial or boho style.

This was a fun one – after all, who doesn’t love a wedding fair held in a bar?!

Our theme for 2018, is ‘An Island Affair’.

Think ocean, sand, tropical, Bali, Bahamas!  Our goal with this fair is to not only produce a visually stunning experience for our guests, but to promote Darwin as the ultimate ‘Wedding Destination’.  Every year we are seeing more and more couples flying into Darwin for their wedding due to; our fabulous and reliable dry season weather, the fact that our wedding season is the opposite of the Eastern states and that whatever your dream wedding location is, be it ocean views, lush tropical gardens or dreamy rural affairs, our Territory can supply them all.

An Island Affair 2018

This year our wedding fair will be a 3 day event held at Club Tropical Resort which is located at the end of Lee Point Road, just minutes from the Airport, Casuarina and the Northern suburbs.

We chose Club Tropical as the location for ‘An Island Affair’ due to a couple of factors.

Firstly it’s an amazing venue that is continually trying to improve on itself.

Secondly, the owner and staff are incredibly passionate about their resort and excited about being a part of An Island Affair, and lastly it has a huge indoor stylish air conditioned space (with a bar), large enough for all of us and our visitors.

The timeline for the fair is listed below.  We would love it if all our vendors attended the vendor dinner on the Friday night.  An evening to share a dinner, few drinks and relax before our big weekend – we see this as an important time of networking and building relationships.  Club Tropical have also arranged a special room rate for those wanting to stay the night.

Saturday morning we’ll begin with a leisurely breakfast and then start our stall set-ups, so that everything is as stress-free and un-rushed as possible.  Then after a fun-filled evening, perhaps a swim and a few drinks around the pool, it’s off to bed.  Sundays fair will start mid morning and run till about 3ish with an immediate pack up so that Club Tropical can open for dinner by 5pm.

Friday 2nd March 2018 – Vendor Dinner – Mediterranean Shared Supper

Saturday 3rd March 2018 – Day 1 – 3:00pm till 9:00pm

Sunday 4th March 2018 – Day 2 – 9:00am till 3:00pm

There is so much more going on with our wedding fair this year than we’ve mentioned here.  So if you want to find out what they are, or just want to sign up straight away, then click on our gorgeous island inspired logo below xo

As we start planning our next wedding fair ‘An Island Affair’ we reflect on the awesome day we all had at ‘An Urban Affair’.  Nerves did kick in at the beginning as we thought no one would turn up especially as there was a minor cyclone warning and it rained ALL DAY!!!

Well we are happy to report that the rain didn’t keep our couples away and they came in their hundreds, at one point you couldn’t move and with Rachel Rachel singing in the background and the excited hum of voices it seriously had the best vibe ever.

So big shout-out to our hosts for the day… Six Tanks Brew Co, and our sponsors… Aperol Spritz (I think we drank their complete stock!), Jansz Tasmania, Champagne Pol Roger and the unexpected but so very cool reps from Coca Cola!

To all our vendors we wouldn’t have had such an amazing day without you, you make all the wine planning nights so worth it! WE LOVE YOU, and we can’t wait to have you all at our next wedding fair in March 2018.

This dreamy wedding was captured by Jessica from Timeless Paige. We’ve known Jess forever and have always said that she would be an amazing wedding photographer.  Well we are pleased to say that we were right! Prepare to immerse yourself in these gorgeous photos and the wonderful and fabulously thorough love story of Dani & Matt.

Dani and Matt met in 2013 when they were both training as NT police recruits. It was a case of Matt hearing Dani and her laugh before actually seeing her. It wasn’tlong into the relationship that they knew it was something special, they couldn’t stay apart from each other. They were always spending time together, going to movies, eating at different restaurants, studying and just enjoying each other’s company. There was this instant comfort and trust in each other.

The first time they said they loved each was at their end of course function where Matt recited everything about the first time he had met Dani. From what he thought of her to what she was wearing that day….don’t ask him what it was now haha…but they have been in love ever since.

The two moved to Tennant Creek at the end of their course and began their new lives together.

In November 2014 they found out they were expecting their first child together, a gorgeous little boy called Mason.

On the 7th of July 2015 the night before Mason’s expected arrival Matt took Dani out for dinner for one last night out together before becoming a family of 3. Matt had organised a night out at Prickles Mexican restaurant in Parap where they had their first date back in 2013. Dani had no idea but Matt had arranged for them to be seated at the exact same table as the one they were at on their first date. Just before they began their main course Matt got down on one knee and winked at the table next to them and asked Dani to be his wife and she of course said yes. After much laughter over the fact that the ring wouldn’t fit Dani’s swollen pregnant fingers they left without even touching their main course to share the news with their family.

Style: clean and simple
Colour: white, gold and burgundy
Venue: Pee Wees at the Point both ceremony and reception

We had always wanted a beautiful and relaxed wedding and as most of our guests were coming from interstate we couldn’t look past Pee Wee’s as the perfect venue to showcase Darwin.

We decided to have both our ceremony and reception held there and we couldn’t have asked for a better place.

The staff, the view, the food, the drinks they were just perfect and made the day a dream, even with the possibility of a few frisky pythons that were spotted in the area the night before.

Our ceremony started in the beautiful gardens on the lawn area under a timber arbour surround by friends and family. It was a sweet little ceremony created by us and our wonderful celebrant Joss Papworth. We ended up writing each other’s vows and didn’t know what we were saying until we were reading them with Matt making me promise to buy him a Quintrex 6’10” Territory Legend.

Our greatest memory is our son jumping on my dress as I reached the end of the isle and trying to take off with my veil….classic.

The reception was set up on the Pee Wees lawns and was just breathtaking. Our entrance was again stolen by our son Mason chasing after us and jumping on my veil again, this time succeeding in stealing it from my hair and running around the tables dragging it behind him. Our cake was a beautiful salted caramel mud cake with white butter cream icing and a tower of salted caramel and berry donuts and cronuts… delicious!!

The rest of a night was full of love and laughter and we just wish we it could have lasted longer.

Processional: Jack Johnson – Better Together
Recessional: Michel Franti – Life is better with you
Reception entrance: Def Leppoard – Pour some sugar on me
First Dance: John Butler Trio – Groovin’ Slowly

I found my dress at a cute little boutique in Hobart. My family and I were on a trip to visit relatives and I was keen to try on a specific gown that wasn’t stocked in Darwin so thought it was a great opportunity.

I tried on the gown I had envisaged for so long and it was so wrong! We tried on a few other owns that were stunning but just not feeling right. The owner of the store brought in one last dress at the end of my appointment and as she was fitting it I was in love. Like the shows always say it was something I would have never picked and never envisaged but it was so right. I said yes to the dress! hahaha

We had our photos taken around East Point Reserve with the fabulous Jess from Timeless Paige.

We have known Jess for a few years as she captured our little boys first photos and this time she was there to capture and share in our family’s life. She has a knack of making everyone feel so relaxed and can capture the love and joy in every moment. We class Jess as a dear friend now and hope we can capture more of our family moments with her.

We were also joined by the best videographers Kane Overall and Tom Hennessy from South Australia. These boys were cool, casual and a seriously great laugh. They get involved in your day and make everyone feel at ease about getting on camera.

Like everyone says, just enjoy your day! It goes so quick and if you blink you’ll miss it. Take a moment to really sit back and look at your reception venue and enjoy the moment with your new husband.

DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!! Seriously no one but you will notice if the flowers aren’t positioned right or the wrong linen is put on and no one cares, they are there to see you and your husband not the decorations.

I highly recommend having a set contact on the day for wedding vendors to contact who know all the details. This saves vendors ringing you with any small problems or details on the day and making you stress. I did this and it made it a breeze.

I believe everything happens for a reason and without fate, my passion for creating, photography and art would never of been found. I am driven by our love and nurture for our loved ones, along with our beautiful landscapes and scenes around us everyday. Connection and emotion is the most beautiful thing to capture on camera, especially when its those you love and adore. These captures we can hold in our hands to remember moments, little or big, in time forever.

Hello, and congratulations on your engagement. I’m Joshua Pucci a young and vibrant civil celebrant based in Darwin authorised by the Attorney Generals Department to conduct marriages. I fell in love with the joy and excitement planning a marriage gives when I assisted in planning my own ceremony with our celebrant. Since that day I just had to share my skill in creative writing with other couples to make their day one to remember.

Making your wedding ceremony special and specific to you as a couple is what I am all about. It can be as long or as short as you both wish, of course there are some legal requirements we need to meet but other than that we have full reign to make your day as special as it possibly can be. With some information from you and your partner I can craft something unique and unforgettable with my excellent creative writing skills. Nothing is to difficult perhaps you both are avid Harry Potter fans and want some spells incorporated into your wedding- I can do It! Perhaps you want parts of your favorite poem read, or references to important milestones in your lives spoken about- I can do it. Your day is all about you, so give me a call or drop me an email and we can go about planning your very special day and making it one you will remember forever.

Just because I am based in Darwin does not mean I wont travel anywhere in Australia so please if you are interested in letting me create your special day let me know- travelling is just detail!

My name is Curtis Brownjohn. I’m a Darwin-born Wedding Videographer currently based in South Australia. I’ve been filming weddings for over six years and I love it. I think what I enjoy the most is being able to capture all those unique little moments and emotions that can only happen at a wedding. Every couple has a remarkable story behind them and it’s my job to help you tell yours. Getting to know you both is a lot of fun and it’s an absolute privilege to be part of your big day!

The way that I film my weddings is candid and relaxed. I want you to be able to enjoy your day without too many distractions and I prefer to document everything as it naturally unfolds. Although I shoot solo, I will often setup a second camera during your ceremony and reception to capture crowd reactions and other angles. I shoot with Canon cameras and lenses in addition to steadicam and gimbal technology to bring every moment of your big day to life with cinematic movement and flying colours. I also record your readings, vows and speeches with professional audio equipment and I use small-scale lighting to add a bit of flair to your first dance and other reception formalities.

All of my weddings are filmed and edited personally so you can rest assured that your videos will contain the beautiful imagery, soaring soundscapes and heartstring-pulling moments that are characteristic of Curtis Brownjohn Films!

Please get in touch with me for further video examples and package options. I look forward to coming up to Darwin and capturing your wedding for you!
